The creative mind behind Gourds for Birds, Amy Lock, started off helping her parents make birdhouses from gourds to fill the hedgerow on her family's farm. One day, while working as a food vendor at the Downtown Windsor Farmer's Market, she decided to bring some of her birdhouses along and they were such a hit that now she has a section of the farm dedicated to growing her own gourds for bowls and birdhouses. Nothing goes to waste either as she uses the circles she bores out for the entrance to make pendants and keychains as well
